Miranda Bergs has explored paper cutting and layered paper art since 2011. A 2013 graduate of the College of Design at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, her training in architectural illustration and public design research provided a framework for exploring light, layers, and positive and negative space across paper, watercolor, printmaking, embroidery, and mixed media. Drawn to paper's unique balance of structure and forgiveness, she creates work characterized by bold color, movement, and intricate composition.  Although primarily known for her paper cutting, Miranda's work is informed by architectural thinking, where composition, perspective, and the interplay of positive and negative space shape each piece. 

Her artwork explores themes of theology, symbolism, existentialism, and timelessness. Inspired by Norwegian rosemaling, floral motifs, antique pattern books, Minnesota landscapes, and Christian iconography, Miranda is interested in the ways historic visual traditions can be given new life through contemporary paper art.

Miranda is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Luther Seminary with a vocational call to clinical chaplaincy and spiritual care. In 2025, she completed 800 hours of Clinical Pastoral Education at St. Cloud Hospital. Her work reflects a lifelong fascination with beauty, cosmology, and the human search for meaning, shaped by her experiences accompanying people through suffering, hope, and profound moments of life.

Miranda lives in central Minnesota with her husband, Erik, and their two children, Aurora and Felix. When she is not studying or creating, she enjoys camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, gardening, singing, and spending time with friends and family.
